House IV
Rye Beach, NH
Project Description
The approach to the house winds through a coastal forest landscape, offering tantalizing glimpses of the structure through the trees. The design eschews monolithic presence, instead unfolding as a series of interconnected pavilions, each clad in dark wood and metal that echo the interplay of light and shadow cast by the surrounding trees. Delicate, inverted butterfly rooflines contribute to this ever-shifting perspective, creating a dynamic visual experience that mirrors the organic forms of the forest canopy.
The central living area houses the living room, dining area, kitchen, and guest accommodations, with a lower level dedicated to wellness, featuring a gymnasium, cold plunge, and sauna. Two wings extend from the central hub, each accessed by separate passages. One leads to a secluded office suite and garage, while the other opens into the primary bedroom. bathroom, dual master closets, and a sunroom. The layout separates public and private spaces, with a dedicated wing for work and another for rest.
